Asia Pacific Bike Ride 2018

A charity event dedicated to raise funds and support Societe Generale's local charity partners, the Asia Pacific Bike Ride set camp in Danang, Vietnam for its 9th edition.

From October 26 to 28, 113 employees from Asia Pacific offices cycled across Vietnam countryside, travelling a route up to 106 km over the weekend.

A positive impact on the local communities

The Asia Pacific Bike Ride is Societe Generale’s  signature Citizen Commitment initiative in the region and has enjoyed success in China, Cambodia, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Australia and Thailand in the past years.

The 2018 edition supported a number of local charity partners across Asia Pacific including Adream, Aseema Charitable Trust, Buk Bu, Hans Andersen Club, HKRU Community Foundation, Indigenous Literacy Foundation, Kids’ Door, Passerelles Numériques, Taiwan Fund for Children & Families and Vidya. Our charity partners focus on areas valued by the bank including education, professional insertion and social inclusion.

Passerelles Numériques was the host location charity this year. They aim at enabling young underprivileged people to build their employability through education in the digital industry and leverage their potential and willpower, allowing them and their family to escape poverty in a sustainable way, which contributes to the social and economic development of their country.

Ten students from the charity school were invited to participate in the Bike Ride, while other students volunteered over the two days helping with a number of activities.
