
Societe Generale appoints Marc Saffon as Group Country Head, Japan
Societe Generale today announced the appointment of Marc Saffon as Group Country Head for Japan, effective 1 September 2026.

Based in Japan, Marc will focus on further expanding the Bank’s franchise, strengthening relationships with Japanese corporates, financial institutions and investors, and enhancing connectivity between Japan and Societe Generale’s global network. He will report directly to Jerome Niddam, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific, and will join the Asia Pacific Management Committee.
He succeeds Bruno Gaussorgues, who will be relocating to Paris to take up the role of Group Head of Credit Portfolio Risk Management.

Biography
Marc Saffon was appointed Group Country Head for Japan and member of the Asia Pacific Management Committee in September 2026.
Marc began his career at Societe Generale in 1993 in the Risk Management department. He later moved into financial engineering roles, supporting institutional clients in Japan and the US. He went on to hold several senior leadership across the Global Markets team, including Head of Structured Products for Asia based in Hong Kong from 2009 to 2015. He subsequently served as Global Head of Financial Engineering in London from 2015 to 2018, before becoming Global COO for Global Markets in Paris from 2018 to 2020. Prior to his current role, he led Global Markets for Japan, with responsibility for all activities across Fixed Income, Equities and Cross-Asset Solutions, driving the franchise’s growth with Japanese financial institutions, corporates and investors.
Marc Saffon is a graduate of École Polytechnique and École nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.
