- 1 and 2 November 2019 (Friday and Saturday)

Societe Generale, Worldwide Partner and Official Bank of Rugby World Cup 2019 (RWC 2019), in partnership with the Singapore Rugby Union (SRU) and Singapore Sports Hub will be screening the finals of RWC 2019 for free to the public. The matches will be broadcasted ‘live’ at OCBC Square in partnership with BeIN Sports, the Rugby World Cup Global Brodcaster. The 3/4 placings is scheduled on 1 November, and the finals on 2 November.

With the capacity to accommodate a large crowd coupled with festivities including fringe activities, stage programmes and food and beverage at OCBC Square, the organisers’ goal is to ensure that the rugby community in Singapore does not miss out on what is to be an exciting finals and family day out.

There will also be a rugby clinic for children from various charities and non-government organisations. This will be conducted by athletes from the Singapore national team who have been selected to compete in the South East Asia (SEA) Games in December.

SRU’s General Manager, Daniel Marc Chow, reiterated that rugby can also be promoted by creating a fun environment. “Exposing more people to the game and having enthusiastic people to explain the game will help with its growth,” said Chow.

SRU Head of Commercial, Douglas Danapal, commented, “This is what collaboration looks like, and we are grateful to Societe Generale for sponsoring the screening of the Rugby World Cup finals. We also want to thank Singapore Sports Hub for providing the venue, which goes a long way in promoting the game.”

Societe Generale’s Group Country Head of Singapore and Head of South East Asia and India, Pascal Lambert said, “Societe Generale has been supporting rugby for more than 30 years; today we support teams and
tournaments from grassroot to top level, strongly associating our brand with the sport’s values. We are proud to be associated with Rugby World Cup 2019 and this event will contribute to promote the tournament and rugby in Singapore while being a fantastic place for all rugby fans to share their passion and emotions this event is able to create.”

Bryn Jones, Chairman of Singapore Sports Hub added, “The final countdown to Rugby World Finals will be screened live at Singapore Sports Hub for all rugby fans on 1 and 2 November, from 4.30pm. Join in the
breathtaking nights to cheer on your favourite teams with us.”
