FinanceAsia Achievement Awards 2021 - Best Sustainable Finance House in Asia
With sustainability taking the global spotlight this year, we are delighted to be named the Best Sustainable Finance House in Asia in the FinanceAsia Achievement Awards 2021. This is a great recognition of our ambitious sustainability strategy and long-standing expertise in the region, as well as our collective sustainable finance push across the countries and asset-classes.
For over 20 years, Societe Generale has contributed to new standards and driven sustainable change as a co-founder of major industry initiatives. In Asia, we have advanced the region’s energy transition and sustainability efforts by being the first international bank to finance the solar power sector in Indonesia, support Vietnam’s nascent wind sector, and set benchmarks for renewables project financing in China, where our TEESS DG PV deal obtained the first Green Loan credential for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in China’s solar industry. We also led a landmark shipping deal for New Zealand’s KiwiRail hybrid electric ferries financing project, a transaction that marks the first Climate Bond Initiative (CBI)-certified green financing for the shipping industry. These are only to name a few of our many sustainability accomplishments, with many more in the pipeline.
