Societe Generale sets up Infrastructure Financial Advisory team in Australia and appoints Marie Vinnell to lead the team

Societe Generale (SG) is pleased to announce the establishment of an Infrastructure Financial Advisory team in Australia to strengthen services on infrastructure projects in the Australian market. Marie Vinnell has been appointed as Director, Infrastructure Financial Advisory with effect from 6 October 2015. She reports to Gavin Munro, Head of Infrastructure Finance for Asia Pacific.

Marie will head the team in Sydney and further grow infrastructure financial advisory business in Australia, where The Australian Government has identified infrastructure development as a priority with a good flow of infrastructure privatizations and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects. She has previously worked on Project Finance activities specialising in the Infrastructure sector in Sydney, London and New York at Societe Generale.

She will be supported by Robert Ogden who will be transferring to Sydney from Hong Kong. Robert joined Societe Generale’s Infrastructure Finance team in London in 2006 and then transferred to Hong Kong in 2010.

Infrastructure Finance is one of the key businesses under Societe Generale’s Global Finance franchise and has been identified as a growth area. The firm has been participating in various infrastructure finance projects in Australia, including Sydney Light Rail, Roy Hill and New Royal Adelaide Hospital over the past years and has received global recognition from the industry with various awards.

Societe Generale established its project finance business in Australia in 1982 and has maintained its presence in the energy and natural resources sectors. The new infrastructure financial advisory team complements the existing Energy and Metal & Mining teams in Sydney, and further enhances Societe Generale’s ability to identify opportunities and provide advisory services to its clients. The new team in Australia is fully integrated with its regional hub in Hong Kong and works closely with the global team to provide full support to clients across all major markets.

Biographies:
Marie Vinnell has 15 years’ experience in project finance with expertise in the infrastructure sector. Before joining Societe Generale in October 2015, she was Director at Westpac Institutional Bank in Australia. Prior to that, she worked in the Infrastructure Finance team in Societe Generale’s New York office during 2007-2009, London office during 2004-2006, and Sydney office during 2001-2004.

Robert Ogden has 10 years’ experience in project finance with expertise in the infrastructure sector. Before joining Societe Generale London office in October 2006, he was at KPMG in the Project Finance team, where he also qualified as a Chartered Accountant
