Citizen Commitment Day in Asia Pacific


Citizen Commitment embodies Societe Generale's commitment to solidarity and the many different ways the Group's employees can get involved.

On Saturday 25th June 2016, various events in the Asia Pacific region were organized by Societe Generale in collaboration with our local charity partners.

In China

Partnering with Shanghai Adream Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization established and managed by executives with extensive management experience in financial institutions and listed companies, over 60 attendees from Societe Generale and young children from the Wulituo Primary School (Societe Generale Beijing Dream Center Partner School) were present on June 25 at  Societe Generale Guanghua outlet in Beijing from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Children were introduced to the banking world, take part in a field trip, various role play games, races and receive awards for their participation at the end of the day.

In Hong Kong

From 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, in Kings Park, a selection of activities were held, including food and beverages, as well as a mini stage for announcements. A representative tent from each of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partners, that Societe Generale is supporting, were present. This provided attendees an opportunity to better get to know these organizations. Over 350 children and representatives from Hans Andersen Club and Hong Kong Rugby Union Community Foundation joined us on this Saturday. This was a great day to bring enjoyment and fun to those children less fortunate in our community.

In India, Mumbai

On 25th June 2016, from 1.00pm to 5.00pm, the Indian Rugby Federation, Asseema Foundation and Muktangan (the charity partners of Societe Generale India) came together under one roof to celebrate a day of solidarity with various cultural and sporting events. Over 80 Societe Generale staff members and their children were joined by 100 children from Asseema and Muktangan to interact with each other, form common teams and play various games at Smaaash, which is a sports entertainment centre.

The children played various interesting games like Bowling, Cricket, Rugby, Finger Coaster, Vertigo, Flymax, XD Theatre, Formula 1, Super keeper, Dodge Ball, Cockpit 360, Magic Carpet and Trampoline. The kids were also showcase various cultural acts and talents. Representatives from the Indian Rugby Federation taught everyone the rules of the game and also inducted them to touch rugby. Overall, it was be a fun-filled interactive day with games, food and prizes for the kids.

In Singapore

On Friday 24 June from 12-5pm, a Family Day was organized for all employees in Singapore and more than 60 of their family members participated in a food and games fair in the office. Chef mums from our local charity, Beyond Social Services, as well as staff prepared food for sale as well as host games stalls. Proceeds of the day were channeled to Beyond Social Services and Passerelles Numeriques, which is supported by the Societe Generale Foundation.

Organized in cooperation with Beyond Social Services, Societe Generale’s charity partner in Singapore, a day of training and touch rugby competition was organized on 23 July. Over 40 people took part including children and staff from Beyond Social Services and rugby trainers from the Singapore Cricket Club at Dempsey Hill in Singapore.

About Societe Generale Foundation

Since its creation in 2006, the Foundation has been active in the field of professional integration, especially in two main areas: helping young people to start their careers and tackling illiteracy. In 2015, the Societe Generale Corporate Foundation for Solidarity is widening its scope to include education. In particular, in 2015 and 2016, the Societe Generale Foundation has chosen to support charities that use sports and/or cultural activities to promote the integration of people in difficulty.

These actions take a wide variety of forms, adapted to the beneficiaries' needs. Career advice for young people, training, help in finding employment or obtaining a diploma, back-to-work projects and companies, programs using sport or culture to tackle failure to complete schooling, presenting the world of business, and guidance from volunteers are just some of the ways of effectively ensuring sustainable integration!
