Advancing women’s career in an inclusive workplace

At Societe Generale, we firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are strategic factors, and one of the most valuable propositions that we provide to our clients and staff members.

“ Diversity stands at the core of our success. Building a working environment where everybody can be their best selves is the greatest way to leverage the full potential of our capabilities and embrace new opportunities. Empowering women, promoting gender equality and more widely diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace is one of our commitments and everyday priorities. ”

In our journey towards more gender equality, we are proud to be ranked within top 10 in Asiamoney magazine’s Leaders for Women survey 2021 – a study measuring the proportion of female staff in their entire workforce and at specific positions.

This recognition comes as we accelerate our drive towards greater gender equality with a new goal of at least 30% of women in the Group’s management bodies by 2023.

In addition, our action for gender equality is based on a variety of actions, ranging from hiring to career management:

  • A Talent Development Programme for women at senior level to further strengthen their leadership skills
  • An Executive Coaching programme dedicated to female Managing Directors to continue boost their skills and career
  • A Sponsorship programme pairing members of the Asia Pacific Management Committee with female talent to advocate a high potential’s career growth
  • Staff policies related to parental and family-friendly leave, flexible work, part-time and career break arrangements
  • Specific initiatives in favour of parenthood (webinars and coaching programmes) to support parental transition and the re-integration of mothers in the workplace
  • Regular events delivering insights and best practices on various topics promoting gender equality

“ Aligned with the Group’s values, we have embedded a framework in our recruitment, evaluation and succession planning processes to ensure that we have a healthy mix of gender and culture and where all employees feel inclusive irrespective of their nationality, sexual orientation, different abilities and gender. In regard to gender equality, our initiatives not only seek to empower women but also support them with specific actions to grow further in their professional careers. ”

Our commitment towards gender equality goes beyond an inclusive workplace. We support the #JamaisSansElles association and by signing their charter, we have pledged to no longer participate in any internal or external event, whether in person or remotely, where topics of general interest would be discussed, commented on or considered, if they involve multiple speakers but none of the speakers are women.

We are determined to step up the pace towards gender equality and to build an inclusive environment where everyone can reach their potential without confronting limits or bias, be they conscious or unconscious.
